Well a New Year has begun and we couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead following a brilliant end to 2015 for The Oakley Court and its team!
Having spent several weeks earlier in the year getting together supporting evidence for our award entries, the team were understandably delighted when we were nominated as finalists for 7 major industry awards.
As a new addition to the Condé Nast Portfolio in the last 12 months, it is a great honour to be awarded ‘Best Value Hotel’ 2016 for the world-renowned Awards for Excellence which are a trusted mark of quality recognised by consumers and travel professionals alike. The venues in the portfolio make up some of the world’s finest hotels and as such, to win is an incredible achievement and testament to the direction in which the hotel is heading.
The Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Life Food & Drink Awards champion and celebrate the great and the good of our region’s food, drink and hospitality industry, from local producers and suppliers to the restaurant of the year, pubs and hoteliers. To be nominated requires voting from the public and so it was a huge honour to be announced as winners in both the Restaurant of the Year and Chef of the Year categories. Our 2AA Rosette restaurant ‘The Dining Room’ with its 7 course tasting menu champions Damian’s vision, as does the implementation of our Kitchen Garden, Bee hives and Smoke house and so to be awarded, when pitted against the outstanding culinary talents across the county, was a huge triumphant for our team and their growing reputation for visionary food and service.
The Caterer Hotel Catey Awards recognise the very best in the hospitality industry. With hundreds of applicants across various categories, competition for places is tough and so it was a great honour to be shortlisted to the final 3 applicants in the Sustainable Hotel of the Year category and while we only just narrowly missed out on the award, to even be considered is a testament to our team’s green initiatives. Over the last 12 months, our green emphasis has seen many innovative concepts brought to the hotel including the development of our own Kitchen Garden, onsite bee hives and electric car charging points. These, along with the introduction of our CHP unit; the first of its kind in Windsor hotels, have helped push us to our sustainability goals and to be recognised for such is truly a privilege.
The Beautiful South Awards finalists have been chosen from the cream of the South East’s tourism businesses by independent judges. The competition to win this coveted accolade was fierce and as such we were incredibly proud to be finalists in three categories; Business Tourism, Flavour of the South-East and Sustainable Tourism. We walked away with 3 bronze awards which is an incredible achievement and brought to an end a hugely successful year in the history of The Oakley Court.
No doubt there will be many more exciting award opportunities in the coming years and with our continually evolving offering, the hotel is sure to be amongst the winners again in no time at all!
